Centre for the Arts, Brock University presents Ravi Coltrane Quartet “In this quartet's sound lies an index of contemporary jazz in New York, making sense of great stylistic swaths. This is what jazz sounds like now.” (The New York Times) Ravi Coltrane was two years old when his legendary saxophonist father, John Coltrane, passed away and he has gone on to establish himself as a distinctive and important saxophone player. Ravi has incredible chops and has played with Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Carlos Santana, Stanley Clarke and Branford Marsalis. As a bandleader, Coltrane has recorded five full albums along with numerous other collaborative recordings. When Ravi Coltrane brings his tight quartet to the Centre for the Arts, if you have any interest in jazz, you will ensure that you are there to drink in this group’s unforgettable post-bop style.
