The 605 Collective - Audible
Date: Saturday, March 3, 2012 -

Centre for the Arts, Brock University presents The 605 Collective - Audible “Audible doesn’t just look cool; it looks cool with meaning.” (The Georgia Straight) The Vancouver-based 605 Collective are establishing their place in the Canadian dance community as an innovative group that is defining an emergent choreographic vocabulary based on hip-hop, ballet, jazz, contact improv and contemporary dance movement. Audible is a full length piece of collective dance choreography set to electronic music and industrial soundscapes which explores the increasingly digital qualities of human relationships defined in terms of speed, friends, texts and tweets. The dancers propel their bodies through space at lightning speed in bursts of frenetic activity that mimic the transmission of digital information, which are bookended by brief periods of lyrical quiet and subtle movement evoking the silence so often missing in our digital days. Unplug from your network, turn off your phone and come watch a group of talented dance artists use their bodies to tell you about what you are missing.
